Endoscopic Ultrasound or EUS is a minimally invasive procedure to examine gastrointestinal infections and lung diseases. A specialized endoscope is utilized for this procedure which comes armed with high-frequency sound waves. This ensures the proper reception of internal lining images of the digestive tracts and areas around the chest. It also takes images in areas surrounding the pancreas and the liver, and the lymph nodes as well.

This is essentially conjoined with another procedure called the fine-needle aspiration.
